Installed in developer mode, for now

VocalStack isn't in the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons yet, so you add it yourself: download the zip, turn on your browser's Developer mode and load the folder. It takes about a minute, and the steps are below. Your browser may remind you that a developer-mode extension is on; that's expected, keep it on.

Finds what a page plays

Every frame, embedded player and media link on the page, checked for which ones VocalStack can fetch, ready to transcribe.

Live from a tab or microphone

Record the tab, the microphone or both into a live transcript you can follow as it is written.

Meetings with a summary

Record a meeting in Meet, Teams, Zoom or another web meeting, and get a summary when it ends.

Captions over the video

Live captions over the tab's video, in the language spoken or translated into another. Dubbing too.

Your whole account, one click away

Click the VocalStack icon in the toolbar and the side panel opens beside the page you are on.

This page

The audio and video the page plays or links to, which of them can be fetched, and a Transcribe button for each. Live captions and dubbing for the page's video. Drop or pick a local file to upload it.

Live

Record this tab, the microphone, or both into a live transcription. Record a meeting and get a summary at the end. Put live captions over the tab's video, translated into another language if you like.

Broadcasts

Create and manage broadcasts, share their links and go live from the microphone. Listeners follow the transcript on the broadcast link.

Voices

Train a voice from the microphone, from a file, or from a speaker in one of your transcriptions.

Library

Search every transcript you have, and open your recent transcriptions.

Without opening the panel

The extension is there wherever you are in the browser.

Right-click a link, a video or the page itself and send it to VocalStack.

Search from the address bar

vs <words>

Type vs and a few words in the address bar to search your transcripts.

Record the tab

Alt+Shift+R

Starts a live transcription of the tab you are on.

Turn on captions

Alt+Shift+C

Puts live captions over the tab's video.

The extension works with your VocalStack account and uses its credit, just like the Dashboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

: Not yet. For now the extension is in developer mode: you load it unpacked from a zip, following the install steps on this page. A Chrome Web Store listing comes later.
: Yes. Download the Edge zip and load it unpacked from edge://extensions with Developer mode on. Everything works the same as in Chrome.
: What you transcribe with the extension uses your account's credit, exactly as it would in the Dashboard. The rates are on the Pricing page.

INSTALL

Load it into your browser, step by step

Until the extension is in the stores, it is loaded unpacked in developer mode. Pick your browser and follow along.

Google Chrome

01Click Download for Chrome and save vocalstack-chrome.zip.

02Unzip it: double-click it on a Mac, or right-click it and choose Extract All on Windows. You get a folder named vocalstack-chrome.

03Move that folder somewhere it can stay, such as your Documents folder. Chrome loads the extension from it every time, so don't delete it.

04Type chrome://extensions in the address bar and press Enter.

05Turn on Developer mode with the switch at the top right of the page.

06Click Load unpacked, choose the vocalstack-chrome folder and click Select.

07Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon in the toolbar and pin VocalStack.

08Click the VocalStack icon to open the side panel, then sign in with VocalStack or paste an API key.

Microsoft Edge

01Click Download for Edge and save vocalstack-edge.zip.

02Unzip it: double-click it on a Mac, or right-click it and choose Extract All on Windows. You get a folder named vocalstack-edge.

03Move that folder somewhere it can stay, such as your Documents folder. Edge loads the extension from it every time, so don't delete it.

04Type edge://extensions in the address bar and press Enter.

05Turn on Developer mode with the switch in the left-hand menu (at the top of the page on a narrow window).

06Click Load unpacked, choose the vocalstack-edge folder and click Select Folder.

07Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon in the toolbar and choose Show in toolbar next to VocalStack.

08Click the VocalStack icon to open the side panel, then sign in with VocalStack or paste an API key.

Updating to a new version

Download the zip again, unzip it over the same folder, then click the reload arrow on VocalStack's card in chrome://extensions or edge://extensions.
